Brands

A brand holds the sending identity a message goes out with and the content that wraps it, saved once and applied to any number of templates. Applying one prefills the sender and adds a footer, and for email a header as well, so campaigns that share a brand present the same way without anyone retyping the detail.

A brand can be applied to a saved template in the library or to a template built in a campaign. The template keeps its own content either way: a brand surrounds that content rather than replacing it.

Brands are held at organisation level. Campaign Manager, Admin and Org Admin create and maintain them. A Campaigner can view the brands the organisation holds and apply one to a template they build in the campaign, but cannot create, edit, duplicate or delete one. See Roles and Permissions and Applying a Brand.

Search narrows the list by name, and the type filter limits it to one channel. Create Brand opens the form described in Creating a Brand.

Brand Types

A brand's type decides what the brand can hold and which templates it is offered on.

  • An Email brand carries a From address, a Reply To address, an email header and an email footer.
  • An SMS brand carries a sender and a plain text footer.

A brand is only offered on templates of its own channel. An email template is offered the email brands and nothing else, and an SMS template is offered the SMS brands, so there is no way to apply a brand to a template of the other channel. The type is also fixed once the brand is saved: a brand created as SMS stays an SMS brand, and covering both channels means creating one brand of each type.

A brand does not have to fill every field of its type. Anything it leaves empty stays under the control of the template it is applied to, which matters most for senders.
